MARCH 2016

For Immediate Release

Nils Berg is thrilled to announce that for the first time NILS BERG FURNITURE will debut a new collection in the Made section at the Architectural Digest Design Show. Made at ADDS is a juried portion of the show that celebrates independent design and will showcase more than 150 independent designers in the galleries this year.

Nils Berg’s new collection of solid wood furniture features geometric lines that are a signifier of contemporary design. These modern silhouettes are juxtaposed with fine craftsmanship that speaks to the time honored traditions of American furniture making and Old World craft. Unexpected details and inspirations can be seen in every piece. Exposed joinery nods just slightly to Maloof’s famous rocking chairs, while hidden geometric facets on the tables’ undersides and hand-cut dovetails inside each drawer give the audience a sense of delight and discovery while viewing and interacting with every piece. The pairing of textures between wood and metal and play of proportions indicate a variety of rich points of inspiration.

Nils hand-selected ash as the primary substrate for the collection, noting that he loves the versatility of the wood. “Ash is very strong relative to its weight, and it absorbs finish and color beautifully allowing for a rich, deep surface on finished pieces.”

Additionally, NILS BERG FURNITURE introduced three new finishes to the collection, which are shown on a variety of the designs. These finishes are hand applied and available in white oil, natural oil, or obsidian oil. Several pieces are adorned with custom, hand polished copper hardware and custom sabots. The show-stopping credenza is fully lined in copper, which was skillfully applied to the ash with an advanced lamination technique.

The full collection, on view for the first time at the Architectural Digest Design Show, includes two new chairs, two occasional table offerings, two tabletop lighting designs, and a credenza.

Now in its 15th year, the Architectural Digest Design Show draws approximately 40,000 design aficionados to interact with incredible design displays from more than 400 brands. The Architectural Digest Design Show is the essential showcase for luxury design, all in one place, at Piers 92 & 94 in New York City from March 17–20, 2016. NILS BERG FURNITURE will be showing in space M1005.
